Can Flaxseed Oil Help With Weight Loss?

If you want to lose weight, then the question is can flaxseed oil play a part in your diet? There really is so much rubbish talked about what the humble flaxseed can do, that it is often hard to find out the truth. It is now safe to assume that this seed, usually in an oil format, is generally good for our health. Therefore having some form of this in our diets is a good idea as it gives us Omega 3, something we do not naturally re-produce in our body.

Does Flax Really Help You To Lose Weight?

Losing weight comes down to two things; what we eat and what we do in terms of exercise. The secret to achieving both of those is self-discipline. That is the really hard thing to achieve as most of us are pretty hopeless at being good boys and girls.

Flaxseed is, in theory, a product that helps suppress the appetite. In simple terms when you start to take Flax in any of its formats, then the effect should be that you will not want to eat as much. Flax can also help by improving your metabolism and also improving your digestive system.

Now much as we would like to achieve those kinds of jean’s looks, most of us do not have that determination and focus. That is why going on to any diet needs a strong will. Sadly many diets, and especially those with a starvation principle, will never work as they tend to lead to the loss of water and muscle in the body and that is something that you do not want.

So can oil help…well have a look at the video below for one opinion.

It is the argument of good fat vs bad fat. For many people, this is a strange argument. This oil is classed as a good fat or better known as an essential fatty acid. It helps break down bad fats in our bodies and get rid of them. That is no doubt a good thing. These healthy fats and I know that sounds like a contradiction can actually help with losing weight.

The type of food that we eat every day, and it does depend on where you live, is not typically that good for us. Vegetables, for example, are an excellent source of food but not something that people will eat every day. Fish is another great food but again many people do not like fish, and those that do may only have it 1-2 times a month. The diets that most of us have in the Western world are lacking in both Omega 3 and Omega 6. That is why many experts now recommend taking something to increase their levels, as neither of these two Omegas is naturally produced by the human body.

Here are some weight loss tips using flaxseed oil.

I think ground seeds are the best for diet and weight loss. There are many ways to take these and it can easily form part of your daily diet and eating habits. Here is a video that offers some other tips to ensure that you get the best weight loss.

Why Not Start With Breakfast?

The way we start our day is important and as you know that means breakfast. This is one guy’s version of how to make a nourishing and healthy breakfast in the morning. I am someone who knows the importance of taking a regular daily dose of flaxseed. I do this at breakfast time and if you would like to find out more about how I do that, then please click here.

I also found this video and this health expert explains why flaxseed can really help start off a good weight loss program.

The bottom line though is that weight loss is simply about discipline, and mainly about self-discipline. Sadly that is why many people fail to stick with a diet.

Evidence of Flaxseed for Weight Loss

If you search around the Internet, you will read all sorts of reports on the many benefits of using Flaxseed. Most of them are quite simply utter rubbish. People tend to make wild claims and either misrepresent the purpose of these oils and seeds or simply take everything out of context.

If someone eats too much and does not burn those calories off, then the inevitable conclusion will be an increase in weight. Our bodies need calories to provide us with energy and satisfy our hunger. Any calories that are not burned off then start to form fat, and from that, we start to put on weight. It really is not any more complicated than that.

Taking flaxseed oil helps our bodies in a number of ways and will lead us to a much healthier lifestyle. It will never on its own help us lose a ton of weight. There is no evidence whatsoever from testing or case studies that prove that taking these flax seeds, oils or capsules will ever help us to lose weight. Please don’t be misled by those who try and tell you something different.

Flaxseed can be used as part of a diet and I have done that myself. It does have many benefits for our health but in the main, these are preventative benefits rather than healing benefits. I have done an article which looks at weight loss for men which you can read here. In that article, I explain how this can happen. For ladies, the principle is exactly the same.

Flaxseed Oil & Metabolism

This is really about the rate at which fat can be burned off in our bodies. The technical name for this process is Thermogenesis. I will not bore you with the technical explanation, but in simple terms, it is about the heat generated in our muscles that helps burn off fats.

Flax has been proven to help with that as it helps with this burning process.

Fat Storage and Flax

The belly, spare tire, or whatever else we like to call it is where much fat is typically stored. You can of course also find it in the bottom, thighs and even in the arms and neck. Here is an interesting observation. If you eat a bag of chips or crisps there will be a tendency to want to eat the entire bag. That is for two reasons, the first being a habit and the second being it usually takes the entire bag to satisfy the hunger that we have.

Now replace that with something like a bag of pine nuts, which are of course more healthy for us, and around 1/3 to 1/2 bag is usually plenty. The reason for that is that something like these nuts or seeds has a much higher nutritional value, and as such our appetite is satisfied faster.

So hopefully you can see that Flax does help with weight loss but not just by itself. It can form part of a healthier lifestyle and that simply has to be a very good thing.
